The Platte River Chapter of Safari Club International, founded in 2020, has quickly established itself as a leading chapter nationally. Committed to the mission of protecting the freedom to hunt and promoting wildlife conservation, the chapter actively supports initiatives that strengthen the future of hunting and the outdoors. Through its efforts, the Platte River Chapter champions ethical, safe, and legal hunting practices; advances legislative advocacy to defend hunters’ rights; educates the public on the vital role hunters play in conservation; and expands access and recruitment to ensure the next generation remains engaged in hunting and shooting sports.


Position Overview

The Chapter Director (CD) serves as the senior operational leader of the Platte River Safari Club International Chapter, responsible for executing the strategic direction established by the Board of Directors. This role is accountable for increasing Chapter revenue by driving membership growth, event fundraising, sponsorship, and statewide engagement in alignment with SCI’s mission of protecting the freedom to hunt and promoting wildlife conservation.


This contractor position is built around delivering measurable results, with clear accountability for generating revenue. Estimated workload of 10-15 hours per week but could be more or less depending on efficiency. Compensation consists of an annual contract fee, with additional earnings tied to performance-based results. The CD will help transition the chapter from a volunteer-led organization to a professionally managed, growth-oriented nonprofit. The primary focus of this role is to scale fundraising, expand membership, and increase statewide influence while preserving the traditions and freedoms central to SCI’s mission.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Implement the mission, vision, and strategic priorities established by the Board
  • Translate board-level strategy into focused, measurable operating plans with defined KPIs
  • Identify and execute growth opportunities in membership, fundraising, and partnerships
  • Provide proactive recommendations to the Board on strategic direction and expansion opportunities
  • Ensure alignment with SCI national initiatives and policies

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee critical day-to-day operations
  • Maintain compliance with nonprofit regulations, including 501(c)(4) requirements, filings, and reporting
  • Manage key administrative systems including:
  • Membership databases
  • Donor tracking
  • Financial coordination (in partnership with Treasurer/CPA)
  • Document and record meetings
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, MOUs, and vendor agreements as needed

Board & Volunteer Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board and stakeholders
  • Coordinate board meetings, agendas, and reporting materials
  • Ensure execution of board decisions and accountability for outcomes
  • Recruit, manage, and support volunteers and committees
  • Build a culture of engagement, ownership, and accountability across volunteers

Membership Growth & Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategies to recruit, retain, and engage members statewide
  • Build compelling membership value propositions and communication strategies
  • Maintain accurate membership records and engagement metrics
  • Expand outreach to new demographics (youth, families, conservation supporters, industry partners)

Fundraising & Sponsorship Development

  • Lead key fundraising initiatives including:
  • Annual banquet/convention
  • Networking Events & Sponsored Activities
  • Corporate sponsorships
  • Donor development
  • Grants and foundation funding
  • Build and maintain relationships with key donors, sponsors, and partners
  • Develop scalable fundraising strategies to increase revenue and sustainability
  • Track and report fundraising performance and ROI

Event & Convention Management

  • Plan and execute high-impact fundraising events, including the annual convention
  • Develop event strategies tied to revenue, membership growth, and chapter awareness
  • Direct and organize volunteer activities related to:
  • Sponsorship acquisition
  • Auctions (live & silent)
  • Raffles and donor engagement
  • Event logistics and execution
  • Ensure professional, scalable, and repeatable event processes
  • Conduct post-event analysis and continuous improvement

Marketing, Communications & Brand Growth

  • Coordinate with and collaborate alongside the contracted marketing firm to execute the Board-directed marketing strategy and ensure alignment with chapter objectives.
  • Drive visibility and engagement around conservation, advocacy, and chapter impact through coordinated communications and event-driven initiatives.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with external partners, sponsors, and agencies to expand chapter visibility and engagement.

Advocacy & External Relations

  • Strengthen the chapter’s presence in conservation and policy discussions
  • Build relationships with:
  • State and local stakeholders
  • Conservation organizations
  • Industry partners
  • Support SCI’s advocacy efforts at the state and national level

Reporting & Accountability

  • Provide regular (monthly/quarterly) performance reports to the Board
  • Track and report on key metrics:
  • Membership growth
  • Fundraising revenue
  • Event performance
  • Engagement metrics
  • Maintain transparency and financial discipline

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Membership growth and retention rates
  • Annual fundraising revenue and event ROI
  • Sponsorship acquisition and renewal rates
  • Event attendance and engagement metrics
  • Operational execution and compliance
  • Expansion of statewide presence and partnerships

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, sales, fundraising, or business development
  • Strong background with event management and sponsorship development
  • Experience working with boards of directors and volunteer organizations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Passion for hunting, conservation, and SCI’s mission strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel within Nebraska and attend evening/weekend events

Preferred Background

  • Experience with membership-based organizations
  • Background in outdoor industry, conservation, or advocacy groups
  • Grant writing and nonprofit compliance experience
  • Marketing and brand development experience

Compensation

  • Base Compensation: $20,000 annual contract fee (paid monthly)
  • Performance Bonus: Up to $20,000 annually based on achievement of defined KPIs, including:
  • Membership growth targets
  • Fundraising revenue goals
  • Sponsorship acquisition and retention
  • Event performance metrics
  • Total Compensation Potential: Up to $40,000 annually, with additional earning potential for exceeding performance goals
  • Structure: Contractor (1099), no benefits
  • Expense Reimbursement: Approved travel and event-related expenses reimbursed
